A cramped carrier makes an already-nervous pet worse — pacing, crying, refusing to settle. On a long trip or a sudden evacuation, that stress only builds.

This is Emergency preparedness and safe transport: an expandable backpack carrier that opens out to give your cat or small dog real room to turn around and lie down, while keeping them secure and hands-free. More space to settle lowers travel stress for an animal that would otherwise feel boxed in. EnrichCove curates travel gear to a science-backed standard, so your pet rides along feeling safe rather than cornered — free to settle and thrive on the move.

  • Expandable panel adds room when your pet rests
  • Breathable mesh on multiple sides for airflow
  • Padded straps and back for hands-free carrying
  • Secure inner leash clip to prevent escape
  • For cats and small dogs within the stated weight range

A carrier your pet settles into freely — choosing to rest, not forced to endure.

How do I get my pet comfortable in it?

Set it up open at home with bedding and treats so your pet explores it without pressure, then expand the panel during rest stops on longer trips. Build from short carries to long ones. Don't leave a pet zipped in a hot car, and ask your vet about travel if your pet is anxious or unwell.

Give your pet room to ride easy. Free US shipping over $49 · 30-day returns.

Expandable Carrier FAQ

Why choose an expandable carrier? Extra room lets a pet lie down and turn around, which is why an EnrichCove expandable carrier helps travel-shy cats and small dogs settle.

What pets fit? Cats and small dogs within the stated weight range; size up if your pet likes to stretch.

Is it hands-free? Yes — padded backpack straps keep your hands free for bags, doors, and leashes.

My cat and I love this! He has plenty of room (He's 10.5 lbs) and I know he's safe and comfy.

Worked great

This was great for a long road trip with my cat. Expandable while in the car so she had room to stretch out and relax. Easy to collapse down to just the carrier when it's time to get out of the car.

My kitten feels safe in the carrier

This has been the best purchase I've made for my new kitten!!; I have a 3 year old Golden retriever who can be a bit too enthusiastic! The kitten is not used to my golden yet but plays with her while being in this backpack. He feels safe. I transported my kitten from the adoption agency in it. He fell asleep on the way home. I love the 3 ways you can open the backpack. I love the pockets on the sides! It is a great device!

Amazing, but could use a few changes.

I do think this is a great item for a cat. I have traveled with my cat internationally a dozen times. It is comfortable, lightweight, and very well made. The extension part is great, most cats will not be able to lay comfortably as they do in a regular carrier. It is made for more of a sitting position. Here a few things they really should change:* The bottom where they lay is hard as a rock, how about some foam, or at least have a zipper so you could add it.* As you can see in the image the top part must be completely open if your cat's head is out. The zipper should go the other way because Cat's get scared easy and can jump out so easily. You can zip it up and give them room on the top, but the zippers would need locks. As is both ends of the zipper must be together to lock (completely closed).* You can clip and attach the leash inside. However they are behind you and if they jump out, they will be dangling. Possibly have any option that has a smaller hole in the center as well.Very happy with the purchase, and for it will makes things a lot easier for me to travel with a backpack. Still love it.

Good overall back pack with lots of ventilation.

It has good ventilation that some of them do not have, but just know you're not immediately going to accommodate your cat to one of these in a day for most people. I would start having the top hatch closed until the cat gets used to the idea and always use the safety harness hookup if you do open the hatch. When you are putting the thing on the ground it does expand into a little tent area. Also if you want to give your cat some water say you're out somewhere without taking it out of the backpack. I'd say overall for the money. It's a great product.

It's awesome

I bought this for a car trip back to the midwest from the WEst coast. 6 days total in the car. My cat loved it, covered it with a sheet while in the car and she napped. Took her into the Travel Stops everytime and she barely compalined. Got lots of people saying I need something like that for My Kitty. I would definately buy it again

More bang for your buck

Perfect for your cat mine has or feels much more relaxed then a cat cage. The extension won't collapse even if your carrying it by the handles my cat still don't like the car ride but was much more comfortable in this then carrier cage there able to move around mire 5 out of 5 stars
